What is Maftoul !!!

Maftoul is one of the traditional Palestinian dishes consisting of small maftoul granules or balls that are prepared by hand at home, or bought ready-made from the markets, and this dish is prepared on popular occasions in Palestine as it is one of the popular dishes, usually served on holidays and events. Some ingredients differ in its preparation according to different regions, but it is often prepared from white or brown wheat flour.

We need to


A kilo of dry maftoul is available in malls and supermarkets


A kilo and a half onions, medium or small size


A kilo and a half chicken or a kilo, boneless chicken breast


2 cups of chickpeas, soaked the day before


6 pods of hot green pepper


2 tablespoons of dry locust


2 tablespoons of turmeric


2 tablespoons salt


Tablespoon black pepper


A tablespoon of cooking seasoning


How to prepare the Palestinian maftoul:

 The first stage is the work of the bride, starting by taking 4 onions with hot pepper and by grinding them very fine with the preparation and adding dry locusts to them


The second stage is watering al-maftoul with hot, unboiled water, as shown in the video


We bring a strainer or mafoula, and put under it a pot of water up to half of it, and anoint the filter with corn oil and put the maftoul in it ... we make a hole and put onions and soft hot peppers in it


And put it on the fire for half an hour.


The third stage is making the stew .. We wash the chicken and put it on the stove, then add a finely chopped onion and sprinkle it with black pepper and spice.


After boiling, leave it for half an hour, then put in a second saucepan corn oil and put onions in it and stir then soaked chickpeas .. and at the end the boiled chicken and broth, and add turmeric, steam and black pepper

We leave them for half an hour, then add two chopped tomatoes, and after 10 minutes the stew is ready.


During the stage of making stews, and when the maftoul is cooked for half an hour, we put it in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of ghee and a pinch of salt and stir well
